WNT Ventures are pleased to announce their second investment fund, adding $4.4 million of new capital to invest into startups across the country. Alongside this fund WNT has access to further funding via the Callaghan Innovation Technology Incubator Scheme.
WNT is actively looking for new, innovative pre-revenue startups to invest into and expect to have made their first investment in the near coming weeks.
Being broadly sector agnostic, WNT Ventures invests into companies across a range of industry sectors, focusing on areas of deep technology. Given the expertise and networks of the team and partners, there is a particular interest in the areas of agritech, food, advanced materials, engineering, medtech and digital.
WNT Ventures typically invests up to $600,000 of capital in the initial round and provides access to an active partnership approach to investing. Companies will require a strong intellectual property position with global potential and can be developed from either public or private sector innovations.
Raising a second fund reflects strong ongoing support for the WNT Ventures model from its existing investor base, with 7 out of 9 of the first fund investors also putting money into the second fund.
Investors in WNT Ventures Fund II include cornerstone investor Quayside Holdings, angel groups Enterprise Angels and Angel HQ, plus a range of community trusts, family offices and high net-worth individuals from the Bay of Plenty and Auckland.
